The Life After Death

Image
TOPIC: THE LIFE AFTER DEATH. TEXT: REV. 14:13. AND I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours and their works do follow them. KJV  If you try to meditate on this scripture, you will know that our lives do not end in the grave. When God made man, he breathed into him his eternal spirit which cannot die. At death only the body decays in the grave. Death looks very dreadful and everyone is afraid of it. It defeats and the dead has lost the battle of life. The Bible says that those who die in the Lord should be envied and celebrated. We should not be sorrowful over those who die in Christ. If you want to be celebrated at death then you must be born again and live the rest of your life for Jesus. DEATH is the doorway to three things.  1. To rest. They cease from their labours. Life here on earth is filled with activities but no more in the grave. Those

Sharing the Love of Christ with Others

Image
TOPIC: SHARING THE LOVE OF CHRIST WITH OTHERS Main Text: Mathew 14: 31-36 Memory Verse Text: Mathew 14: 35 No Christian can live successfully who does not constantly and systematically seek to share the love of the Lord Jesus Christ with those who do not know Him, and no Christian will ever begin to do this until he or she feels a real concern, a burden for the salvation of the multitudes of men and women who are lost (Luke 19:10), condemned already (John 3:18), and are under the wrath of God (John 3:36).  Do you feel any concern for the lost?  Have you any passion for souls?  Are you burdened as you think of your loved ones and friends and of the thousands of others who are not saved?  If we ask the question: What is the real need of the lost? – How does this portion of scripture answer it?  It tells us three things about the people of that day which are true of people today. 1. They were Diseased  Many people today may be religious, respectable and living morally decent and upright l

Welcome to the Month of December

Image
Glory be to God in the highest for bringing us to the last month in the year   2019. With confidence in His Word and His power, we shall surely see the end and cross over to the new year by His grace and mercy in Jesus name. Letter 12 represents covenant: The Lord  will remember His covenant and honour your life. HE will remember His promises and visit your situations. He will once again remember His words and give you victory over all your challenges and trials, in Jesus name. It also represents foundation: The Lord will shake and destroy every faulty foundation of your life and that is fighting your glory and destiny in Jesus name. He will remain a sure foundation for your life in every area for uncommon breakthrough In Jesus name.  It also separate the night and the day: The Bible says weeping may endure till the night, but joy comes in the morning. The Lord will end weeping, sorrow and shame in your life and give you a new song of victory, celebration and jubilation in Jesus name.

Triumphing in Trouble Times

Image
TOPIC: TRIUMPHING IN TROUBLE TIMES Main Text: 1 Samuel 30: 1-6 Memory Verse Text: 1 Samuel 30: 6 Trouble is no respecter of persons (Job 5:7; 14:1).  Maybe you are passing through a time of trouble now?  If so, there is help in the word of God for you. And if you are not in the midst of trouble today, here is ministry in advance which will prepare you for some future day, for trouble comes to us all, and it is a good thing when we know what to do in a time of trouble.  Let us learn from the situation and attitude of David: 1. David’s trouble was very real. How does your trouble compare with his?  Does yours have to do with some great loss in your life; is it connected with your loved ones; is it so great that you have wept until you have had no more power to weep?  How real our troubles are!  There is nothing imaginary about them, and it is not wrong to weep and to find relief in this way (John 11:35). 2. David was in trouble although he was a child of God. Because we are Christians we

Experiencing Fullness of Joy

Image
TOPIC: EXPERIENCING FULLNESS OF JOY Main Text: John 15: 1-11 Memory Verse Text: John 15: 11 Too often we are sad, gloomy and dejected; but as Christians we ought to be joyful in everything – Philippians 4:4 and 1 Thessalonians 5:16.  The A-to-Z of our Christian experience should be marked by joy: joy at conversion (Acts 8:39); joy when reading God’s Holy Word (Jeremiah 15:16); joy in prayer (John 16:24); joy in the midst of trials (James 1:2); joy when suffering (Acts 5:41); joy when serving (2 Corinthians 1:24); and joy at the journey’s end (Hebrews 12:22). Let us take note of the following points: 1. The Christian life is the life of the Lord Jesus Christ in a man or a woman –  Galatians 2:20.  Christian joy is Christ’s joy in a Christian, and this means that this deep-down, abiding joy is not found anywhere else except in Him 2. Our joy is not an intermittent experience, but a permanent one.  It is a joy which is unaffected by circumstances – see what the Lord said to His disciples

The Promise of Perfect Peace

Image
TOPIC: THE PROMISE OF PERFECT PEACE Main Text: Isaiah 26: 1-4 Memory Verse Text: Isaiah 26: 3 There is no promise anywhere in the Bible which encourages us to believe that while we are in our earthly bodies we shall experience freedom from trouble; but there is something far better – there is the promise of peace in the midst of trouble.  Of what value would freedom from trouble be if we had no inward peace?  Yet how wonderful it is that in the midst of the fiercest battle, and while the storm is at its height, the trusting soul may experience inward peace, a deep down calm and a quiet confidence!  But what is perfect peace?  Can we define it?  Yes, it is a condition of freedom from disturbance within the soul; it is perfect harmony reigning within.   1. The Hebrew word “shalom” has in it the idea of soundness of health, so that to be filled with perfect peace is to be spiritually healthy and free from all discord within the soul.  2.  There can be no room for jealousy, envy, disconten

Discovering the Purpose of God for your Life

Image
TOPIC: DISCOVERING THE PURPOSE OF GOD FOR YOUR LIFE Main Text: Acts 9: 1-9 Memory Verse Text: Acts 9:6 We shall base this study upon the question asked by Saul of Tarsus at the very moment of his new birth:  "What shall I do, Lord?”  Did Saul’s conversion just “happen”?; was it by “chance” that he was suddenly converted on the Damascus road, or was it according to a divine plan and purpose?   Acts 9:15 tells us that it certainly was “according to plan” – God’s plan.  But has God a plan for my life?  If so, how may I know it and what is involved in finding it?  There are three characteristics of God’s plan for our lives: (1) It is a personal plan.  Notice the personal pronouns – “you” and “me” in Acts 9:4.   There is no one else in the world like you, and therefore God’s plan for you is unique and personal – just for you!  He has a purpose to fulfil in and with your life which cannot be fulfilled in and with the life of any other person. (2) It is a perfect plan.  In Romans 12:2 (w

Preaching the Word: A Command to Every Believer.

Image
A RECAP OF TODAY'S SERMON GIVEN BY THE GENERAL OVERSEER BISHOP JULIUS SOYINKA AT THE FIRST SERVICE. TOPIC; PREACHING THE WORD- A COMMAND TO EVERY BELIEVER. TEXT; MARK 16:15-18 Verse: And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. KJV  This was the command given by Jesus before his physical departure from the world. This verse is called the great commission. It was a direct command, not an advice or a suggestion.  This command to go into the world and preach the gospel is very important. Why is it so important? 1. Because it is only by the preaching of the gospel can anyone be saved. Acts 4:12. 2. Because it is the only means by which souls can be added to the church. Many people are in the church today who didn't come in through the gospel and that is the reason we have so many problems in the church. 3. Only by the gospel can the believers fulfill their assignment. 4. It is through this that we can anticipate the coming of the Lord. It

You are the Salt of the Earth

Image
A summary of Sunday sermon delivered by Bishop Julius Soyinka. TOPIC: YOU ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH. TEXT: MATTHEW 5:13-16. CHRISTIANITY is designed to have positive influence in the world. You are the salt and the light of the world but the ability to be what God wants us to be is dependent on our reliance on him.  If you are not what he wants you to be then you are not fulfilling his divine purpose for your life. There are three main points to discuss in this sermon. (A) A description to appreciate. God describes us in some ways. 1. We are the salt of the earth. Salt is pure white in colour which connotes a sign of our purity. You can't be a Christian and remain impure. 2. Salt gives flavour to food which makes it palatable. Something is missing in this world that God wants us to add. Some of these are peace, love, joy etc 3. Salt constitutes a major component of our body fluids. Water and salt. Even the fluid given to sick people in the hospital is majorly water and salt. 4. Sal

Our Heavenly Home

Image
TOPIC: OUR HEAVENLY HOME Main Text: John 14:1-15 Memory Verse Text: John 14: 2-3 We are bound for our heavenly Home!  The Bible does not tell us too much about Heaven, but just enough to thrill our hearts as we think of the bliss and glory shared by all whose Home it is. Shortly before our Lord Jesus went to the cross of Calvary to die for us He gave to His first disciples (and to us) a very wonderful promise – John 14:2-3.  It is upon this promise that we base our confidence that Heaven is our Home. There are three significant reasons why every Christian should be helped and encouraged by a meditation upon the subject of Heaven: 1. First: because we are most surely going to Heaven!  Every truly born again (John 3:3), blood-washed (1 John 1:7) believer is bound for the Heavenly City.  Our names are already written there (Luke 10:20), and many of God’s children are already living there (Ephesians 3:15).   2. Second: because we all have loved ones in Heaven.   The very mention of Heaven

Grace Sufficient for Every Need

Image
TOPIC : GRACE SUFFICIENT FOR EVERY NEED Main Text: 2 Corinthians 12:1-10 Memory Verse Text: 2 Corinthians 8:9 We, as Christians, are always in need of grace – not only ‘dying grace’, but grace to enable us to live to the praise and glory of God.  We may experience that God’s grace is sufficient for our every need, not only to enable us to get through difficult situations but to do so triumphantly!   There are three main thoughts: 1. THE SUFFERING  Every Christian experiences trial and testing.  First, because this is the common experience of all members of the human race (Job 5:7); and second, because it is the common experience of all Christians (Philippians 1:29).   When unpleasant things happen to us we naturally ask   ‘Why has God permitted this?’  In Paul’s case the purpose was revealed to him (verse 7).  He was particularly susceptible to the temptation of pride and conceit because of his very great gifts, and because of his amazing experience at Lystra fourteen years previously

The Ministry of The Holy Spirit

Image
TOPIC: THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Main Text: Acts 13:1-13 Memory Verse Text: Acts 1: 8 The Book of Acts is rightly ‘The Acts of the Holy Spirit’; that is, His activity in and through the church.  In the four Gospels we see Him operating through the perfect human body of the Lord Jesus; in Acts, however, we see Him working through the mystical body of Christ – the church.   In the Gospels we have the record of “all that Jesus began to do and to teach” (Acts 1:1) during the three years of His public ministry;  but the Acts records all that He continued to do from the throne, by the Holy Spirit, through the church. 1. The Holy Spirit is to initiate or form the Church. The Holy Spirit forms the church (Acts 15:14-15); but what is true of the church is true of a church, that is, a local assembly of Christians.  Whether in Antioch or anywhere else, the initiation of the church or a church is not the work of man but of the Holy Spirit.   The Church is not a religious meeting but a compan

Is Anything Too Hard for God?

Image
TOPIC: IS ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR THE LORD? Main Text: Genesis 18:1-14 Memory Verse Text: Genesis 18:14 In these days many of God’s people are discouraged, despondent and filled with doubt.  This ought not to be, for discouragement always comes from the Devil, despondency paralyses us for useful service and doubt dishonours the Lord. Humanly speaking, it was impossible for Sarah to bear a child.  At first Abraham laughed at the idea (17:17), but afterwards Sarah laughed also (18:12) – and then it was that the Lord Himself said, ‘Is anything too hard for the Lord’.  Well, is anything…? 1. There is no PROMISE too hard for the Lord to fulfil.   Every promise that God has ever made will be fulfilled, and there is a promise to meet your very need.   Notice three illustrations of ‘hard things’ that God promised and accomplished: (1) He promised that the walls of Jericho would fall, but that Rahab’s dwelling on the wall and her family would be spared.  This was indeed a hard thing – Joshua 2:1-

Setting Your Priority Right

Image
TOPIC: SETTING YOUR PRIORITY RIGHT Main Text: Matthew 6:25-34 Memory Verse Text: Matthew 6: 33 Many things clamour for priority, and we need to know how to assess their value and not to give the first place to secondary things.  For example, the soul is more important than the body (Mark 8:36); the things of eternity are of greater importance than the things of time (Hebrews 9:27); life itself is far more important than possessions (Luke 12:15-21); moral strength is far more important than physical strength (Ephesians 6:10).   Much of our trouble arises from the fact that we have reversed the order and in many cases we are “majoring in minor things and minoring in major things”.  This is true nationally, religiously and individually. How can we know what God wants us to put first?  The Word of God is our all-sufficient guide.  Study the following ‘first things’: (1) The first and greatest commandment – Matthew 22:36-38. (2) Why we love Him – 1 John 4:19. (3) The prerequisite to discipl
