UPGA SERMON FOR SUNDAY SERVICE: ENOCH: UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT OF WALKING WITH GOD. Study Texts: Genesis 5: 22 - 24; Hebrews 11: 5 - 6 Introduction: -   God is always looking for a walking partner, someone whose heart can be after His own heart, and who will only do what is well pleasing to Him.  -    God created man for the enjoyment of a walking relationship that involved companionship, dialogue, intimacy, joint decision-making, mutual delight, and shared dominion.  --    God longs to walk with you, which is why his arms of grace have been pulling you into a closer walk with him. -   Enoch was the first man in the Bible who walked with God. Even though men began to call upon the name of the Lord in the early days (Genesis 4:26), Enoch was the first man to uncover the true delight of walking with God.  -   He found something even Adam didn't experience. He pressed into God until he learned how to commune with God through every facet of life.   -   Enoch's example continues t

Welcome to a Season of Divine Help

Image
All glory be to God in the highest, for making us to see the end of June, and the end of the first half of the year 2020 in good conditions, despite the troubles and turbulences all around. Praise God for His goodness and wonderful works over our lives and our families. As we enter into the second half of this year, I bring you the word of God from the Throne of Mercy: Psalms 121:1-8  I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore. We all need divine help in running the r

Serving God with a Good Conscience

UPGA SERMON FOR SUNDAY SERVICE: SERVING GOD WITH A GOOD CONSCIENCE. Study Text: 1 Timothy 1:18 - 20; Acts 23: 1 Introduction: -   Conscience is the power of the mind, by which we distinguish between what is right and what is wrong. -    It is the faculty within us that testifies to us concerning the standards of God, and the things that are acceptable to Him. -    Conscience is an independent witness within us. It is a gift of God and it is indestructible. Conscience functions like a judge within us.    -   It activates guilt internally when the behaviour is evil, and likewise peace when there is a good act. Romans 2: 14 - 15.  -. We shall discuss the topic under three sub-headings: 1. The Purpose of a Good Conscience. 2.  The Pathway to a Good Conscience. 3.  The Products of a Good Conscience. 1.  The Purpose of a Good Conscience:  -   Conscience has many fold functions in our lives.  1.   It points us to what we ought to do.  -    It is an interior sense, which points us to our oblig

Steadfastness in the Kingdom

Image
UPGA SERMON FOR SUNDAY SERVICE: Steadfastness in the Kingdom Study Text: 1 Corinthians 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. Introduction: -   Steadfastness is an essential principle in Christian character. There can be no success nor prosperity in the Christian life when this principle is wanting.  -   Just as Christian fortitude is noble, and pleasing to God, so a lack of steadfastness is ignoble and highly displeasing to God. -  We shall discuss the topic under three sub- headings: 1.  The Explanation of Steadfastness in the Kingdom 2.  The Expectation of Steadfastness in the Kingdom 3.  The Evaluation of Steadfastness in the Kingdom 1.  The Explanation of Steadfastness in the Kingdom: -  To be steadfast and unmovable is to be spiritually grounded. A steadfast person knows what he believes and cannot be “tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown

The Path of the Lord is Full of Abundance

Image
TOPIC: THE PATH OF THE LORD IS FULL OF ABUNDANCE. TEXT: PSALM 65:11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drips with abundance NKJV  Our God is a God of abundance. The Lord owns the world and the abundance thereof.  Psalms 24:1. He desires all his people to enjoy the abundance of His blessings. The book of John 10:10 says  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. KJV  These blessings are for this life and the life to come. A lot of blessings are waiting for us in heaven. Things that eyes have not seen, that ears have not heard, neither has it ever entered into the heart of men. There are three points to discuss in this sermon. They are: 1. The promise of abundance  2. The Path to our abundance and  3. The profit of abundant life. 1. THE PROMISE OF ABUNDANCE.  Every child of God can have the abundance of His blessings because He has promised us a lo

All Things were Created by Him

ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY HIM Study Text:   Colossians 1:15-20 Introduction:  - The most important question that anyone can ask and explore is ‘Who is Jesus Christ?’ So many people do not know the right answer to that question.  Jesus Himself, when he walked on this earth turned to His disciples one day and said ‘Who do you say I am?’ It is a critical question.  - There is no One just like Jesus. He is vastly superior to and different from anyone else who has ever lived on this earth. In the city of Colosse the church was being infiltrated by those who had a distorted faith. Paul's approach to this problem is very instructive. He does not attack the heresy but emphasizes the truth. -  Many in our day know that there is a lot of wrong "out there" but they do nott know what the truth is. In our passage this morning Paul underlines the most important distinctive of our faith.  - Paul tells us that Jesus was more than one of the prophets. He speaks in much stronger terms: &q

Waiting Upon the Lord

Image
TOPIC: WAITING UPON THE LORD Main Text: Isaiah 40: 26-31 Memory Verse Text: Isaiah 40: 31 If we are honest with ourselves, we have to admit that there is very much failure in our Christian living and service: 1. The Word of God convinces us of our failure.  Do we not oftentimes “faint” and have “no power” (verse 29)?  Do we not often “grow tired” and do we not frequently “fall” (verse 30)?   2.  Observation also convinces us of our failure.   We know it is true that we fail because our eyes tell us so as we look at ourselves.  Our own heart tells us that it is true.  How faint and weary we become, and how slow we are to learn the way of victory and power! –  Proverbs 14:10. What is the cause of our failure? 1. The primary cause is Ignorance of the Resources which are at our Disposal.  Isaiah 40:28 says: “Do you not know…?”  What are the resources at our disposal?  In verses 28 and 29 we read that “The Lord, the everlasting God, the Creator…” is offering to give us power and strength.
