Study Text: Psalms 63: 1 - 2
Introduction:
- We live in a world today where the Power of God is a critical necessity for survival.
- Supernatural Power is needed in life to fulfil destiny and surmount obstacles. It takes the Power of God to subdue the works of darkness.
-. The tragedy of our generation is not the powerfulness of the Devil, but the powerlessness of the saints. To bring the power of darkness under control, you need the Power of God.
- It takes supernatural power to overcome satanic wickedness, sustain motion, to move and keep on moving, so that your destiny is not arrested.
- It takes supernatural power to fulfil destiny, to walk in the program of God for your life, to undertake divine assignment with great success and fulfill divine purpose for your life.
-. We shall be discussing the topic under three subheadings:
1. The Salient Points on Supernatural Power
2. The Secret Pathways to Supernatural Power
3. The Source and Performance of Supernatural Power
1. The Salient Points on Supernatural Power.
-. There are several important truths about the supernatural power from God.
1. The Power of God is not for personal public display but a vital necessity in the life of a child of God.
-. When the Magician in Samaria saw that people are receiving power through the laying on of the Apostles' hands, he offered money to receive the power for personal display in the public. Acts 8: 18-21
2. The Power of God does not belong to some super spiritual people; the Power of God belongs to the people of God.
-. The Power is given by God for His assignment to be accomplished on earth by all the children of the Kingdom of God. Acts 1:8
3. Even though the Power is given to all the children of God, there are conditions to meet in order to receive and sustain the Power of God.
-. Every child of God must recognize the things that can leak away the Power of God and lessen the potency in his or her life. Judges 16:19-20
4. The Power of God is not limited in what it can do, but only God determines what it will do.
-. As believers, we can believe God for supernatural manifestation of His Power in all situations, but only God determines what He will do in response to our faith and prayers. Acts 3:1-10
2. The Secret Pathways to Supernatural Power.
-. God releases His Power at His own will, but there are certain things that can position a man at the disposal of His Power. Some of these include:
1. Desperate Desire for God’s Power with a Right Motive.
-. The Power of God will flow in the direction of a heart seeking the Power desperately with the right motives of fulfilling God's assignment and glorifying His name. Psalms 63:1-2; Philip. 3:10-12.
- If you must experience the Power of God, there must be a desperate longing for it.
-. You must desperately refuse to exist and operate without His Power, with determination to have and be all that God has in store for your life.
2. Constantly Engaging in Fervent Prayer and Fasting. Acts 4:31-33; James 5:16-18
-. Prayer and Power go together, and the people of prayer are the people of power.
- If you know prayer you will know power. Where there is no prayer there is no power.
-. In Acts chapter 3, Peter went to the temple at the time of prayer and met a crippled man by the gate. He demonstrated the power of God and the man rose up and walked. The hour of Prayer is the hour of Power.
- Elijah is another example of a man of unusual power because of prayer. He connected Divine power and changed the climate and weather; he had power to subdue the principalities of a territory because of prayer.
Beloved, prayer is a major secret of power. This is why a prayerless Christian is a powerless Christian. The reverse is true; a prayerful Christian is a powerful Christian. Make up your mind to pray in order to connect to the Power of God.
- Fasting amplifies spiritual hunger, passion and desire and focuses your faith on the Power of God.
3. Receiving Definite Revelations and Insights from the Word of God. John 1:1-5; Luke 10:16
- The Word of God is quick and powerful and it is the Sword.
-. Receiving definite insight and revelations from the Word will produce the power of God.
-. We saw Jesus confronting and challenging the Devil by the Power of the Word of God. Luke 4: 1-10, Luke 4:32; 36
-. Access to fresh revelations from the Word equals access to fresh Power from God. Hebrews 1:3.
-. Jesus Christ is Word personified so He is Power personified. The depth of your Word will determine your strength in Power.
4. Embracing The Lifestyle of Humility Matthew 6:8-13; Isaiah 14:12-18.
-. God will always resist the proud and give grace to the humble.
- The Power and the Glory belong to God; If God will not get the Glory, He will not release the Power.
- If God’s Power must increase in your life, you must decrease in yourself (John 3:30)
Humility brings grace and power while pride deletes grace and power.
- No matter how high God takes you, always remember that you are still a man and without God you can do nothing.
5. Embracing the Lifestyle of Righteousness.
Philippians 3:10-12
- To arrive at the place of power you must be willing to pay the price of righteousness. Titus 2: 11-14.
-. There is no rise without a price. The determination to go all the way with God, to hold nothing back in the pursuit of God’s righteousness, will channel the flow of the Power of God into your life.
6. Enlarged Faith to Receive His Power
-. Nobody can please God and receive His power without faith. Hebrews 11:6
-. The availability and exercise of faith is the availability and manifestation of power.
- You cannot be full of faith and be empty of power. The work of faith is manifested in power.
-. Faith is always the switch of power. Mark 5:25-29. When God sees your faith, He moves to confirm it by releasing the Power to perform it.
3. The Source and Performance of Supernatural Power.
-. The Source of the Supernatural Power available to us is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The same power that raised Him up is given to us.
-. The same way the powers of darkness could not resist the resurrection power, the same way they will not be able to withstand the operation and manifestation of this Power in us.
-. We connect with this Power at our new birth and after the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
-. The performance of this Power in our lives is of various dimensions:
1. The Power for Godly Living. Ephesians 2: 4-7
-. The first thing this Power does is to quicken us and transform us to live the new life in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17

-. The Power is available for us for faithful and fruitful services in the Kingdom of God.

4. The Power for Divine Provisions.
